SofaF1 Championship – Round 10

Vettel and Webber starting from the front row again, Webber hauling past Vettel for the lead at the start then cruising on to the win after Vettel had a puncture. Vettel did well to recover to 7th though, Hamilton and Button putting in solid performances to end up 2nd and 4th with Rosberg in between them in third great result for him. Williams scored a pretty good team result too with Rubens in 5thy and the Hulk in tenth. Interestingly that put all 5 German drivers in the top ten with 4 of them lying line astern 7th-10th. Another good result for Kobyashi and Sutil.

Crackin stuff, onto the Hockenheim

Hey everyone… Hope you are enjoying the sunshine if you are in the UK or in another place that has sunshine and you like sunshine. A tie up at the top of the table for Lukeh and GriffF1. Bad news for seasoned SofaF1 player Bearded Stew who is currently the lowest ranked player to have been involved in every race of the season. And yes for some reason I do have two entries still. I will try and get that sorted shortly.

Now on to the British Grand Prix… Will there be a Brit on Pole? Or will it be another walk in the park for Red Bull… Hopefully you know and can predict before qualifying starts tomorrow. Good Luck!

SofaF1 Championship – Round 9

I heard there was a race in Valencia the other week. Events beyond my control prevented me from seeing it on the TV or iPlayer but the snippet i heard on the radio said Kobayashi was in second place, sounds like it was a good one. Anyway apparently Webber had a big crash and Hamilton did something to annoy Alonso and Ferrari but Vettel just cruised though it all to win.

Points should be here   http://aaserver.co.uk/widgets/poll.cgi

If anyone has a proper race update then feel free to share it!

SofaF1 Championship 2010 – Round 8

What a return to Canada, probably the most exciting race we’ve had this year, it was great to see the lead changing so often, through a combination of pit stop strategy and proper overtaking, with the fight for the lead even continuing in the pit lane with Hamilton scrabbling to get out in front of Alonso. Much better performance from the Ferraris this weekend even if Massa did keep bashing into people and finishing way down. Alonso properly had the lead for a bit, but McLaren were the best team on the day with both Hamilton and Button passing Alonso for the top two spots. The Red Bulls were there but then they faded, Vettel managing some sort of problem in the car and Webber not really making his strategy work and having to make a late pit stop for his soft tyres.

Another good steady race from Rosberg and Kubica finishing up behind the McLarens, Red Bulls and Alonso, with Buemi in the mix too, also worth a mention is the Force India pairing round out the top ten in 9th and 10th putting in some very impressive performances keeping Schumacher out of the points.

Anyway time to take stock of the points before we return to Europe in a couple of weeks time…and i think i need to rethink my strategy, i might be doing quite badly.

SofaF1 Championship – Round 7

Another Red Bull pole position and the third in a row for Mark Webber, it really looked like he had finally found his groove and everything was working out for him and the team. Good consistant qualifying sessions, leading and winning races, comfortably racking up the points and building a championship challenge, surprising everyone who seemed to expect him to play a supporting role to his younger team mate.

All was going well, McLaren were making a bit of a challenge but Red Bull had it in the bag, a nice neat 1-2 with Webber set to take the top spot again, but no! It wasn’t to be, McLaren were handed the race on a plate, with Hamilton and Button squabbling as to who should have the victory. Vettel tried to slip up the inside of Webber, Webber didn’t move and held his line, Vettel tried to make him move, but Webber didn’t budge an inch and they collided, spinning off the track, total disaster. Vettel was out but Webster kept it all going to rejoin the track albeit down in third now behind the McLarens.  Good finish just behind though for Mercedes, Schumi taking the fourth spot with Rosberg fifth. Ferraris down in 7th and 8th, disappointing season really so far for them after such a promising first race.  Nice and neat though with Massa, car 7 in 7th and Alonso car 8 in 8th, almost as if they had planned it.

Interesting sight on the podium too with 3 Union Flags flying above the drivers, i don’t remember seeing that to often!

Anyway results are all up and going here: http://aaserver.co.uk/widgets/poll.cgi

Thanks again to Alex for sorting them out, although he does seem have entered two teams, or is that someone else with the same name. Mysterious.

Onwards to Canada, its been a few years… Can Red Bull bounce back and stay on the track, have McLaren really made progress, what about Mercedes?

Turkey Pole Poll

Sorry for the hopeless score updates and everything, I have been very busy and away and volcanoed and things. But that’s not important now, now we need to concentrate on the happenings at the Turkish Grand Prix.

Will Schumacher be out for vengeance post his penalty? Will Alonso be more careful in practice? Will some of our contestants be able to get more than zero points this week?

Sofa F1 Championship – Round 6

Totally dominant weekend for Webber. he came from almost nowhere to post a stunning lap time beating the Pole to pole. In the race, Webber looked really comfortable being hampered only by the safety car which eroded his lead periodically, almost as if he was going to beat everyone else by so much it would be shameful. The race had a fairly high attrition rate but Alonso starting from the back, with a good strategy game going on, meant he would have finsihed fairly high up anyway.

The points will appear soon, just keeping the suspense up for a bit longer …
